SUMMARY:Ask An Expert – Equitable Hiring & Motivational Interviewing
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Session with Consultants 4 Good \nJoin a conversation exploring equitable systems design\, leadership decision-making\, and people practices. Motivational Interviewing serves as a practical foundation for the session\, supporting hiring teams\, supervisors\, and leaders to slow down decision-making\, surface assumptions\, and move from “gut instinct” to intentional\, values-aligned choices. \nEquitable hiring isn’t treated as a standalone DEI concept. It’s integrated into how organizations define roles\, assess candidates\, structure interviews\, and make final decisions. Throughout the session\, led by Christina Hassan\, she will focus on the real points in the process where bias and assumptions naturally show up—and how to work with them skillfully. \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Advocacy in Action: How Nonprofits Can Engage Responsibly
DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder what advocacy looks like in action? \nLearn alongside a Colorado nonprofit expanding its impact beyond direct service by engaging their community in civic participation. While running mobile food markets\, the organization starts a voter registration drive at food distribution events\, helping hundreds of community members register to vote. When a statewide ballot measure to increase access to healthy food for children appears on the ballot\, the nonprofit participates in grassroots lobbying by educating community members about the proposal and encouraging them to share their perspectives. Building on that momentum\, the organization later engages directly in the Colorado legislative process by helping inform the drafting of a bill to expand healthy food access\, meeting with legislators\, and bringing community members to testify at the state Capitol. \nAdvocacy is a powerful way for nonprofits to address the root causes of the challenges their communities face. Join us for this three-hour\, interactive workshop designed to help nonprofit staff and leaders understand how to engage in voter outreach and policy advocacy confidently\, responsibly\, and within 501(c)(3) limits. Through practical examples\, small group discussion\, and collaborative exercises\, participants will explore the foundations of nonprofit lobbying in Colorado. \nTrainer: Monica DeWitt\, Education Specialist\, Community Resource Center
